  186. you wish to grab.  Press <Alt><F4>.  Then move the cursor to the bottom 
  187. right corner of the text.  Notice that a reverse image box indicates the 
  188. text to be grabbed.  Press <F7> or <Ctrl><F4> to copy the "grabbed" to 
  189. the Paste buffer.

  202. The Associator is designed to allow you to find words in the same or 
  203. different Bible versions in a given verse that have a significant number
  204. of occurances with a selected word.  Within the same Bible version, you
  205. can check and see what other words in a given verse tend to occur with a
  206. word you are studying.  With different Bible versions, you can use the 
  207. Associator to help you determine how one word is translated in a different
  208. version.  
  209.  
  210. We suggest your practice using the Associator on the same version or on 
  211. two english translations until you become familiar with its capabilities 
  212. and limitations. Keep the following comments in mind:
  213.  
  214.   The frequency of a given word has a significant impact on the    Associator.
  215.   High frequency "noise" words such as 'the', 'and', 'of', etc. tend to 
  216.   find other noise words and are not too accurate.  Similarly, very rare
  217.   words tend to primarily find noise words.  Between these two extremes, 
  218.   the Associator seems quite accurate.  
  219.  
  220.   The Associator uses the current defined search range to allow you to
  221.   examine "associations" within segments of the Bible (the writings of
  222.   John, for instance).  Generally, a small range will lower frequencies
  223.   and may create "rare words", reducing accuracy.
  224.  
  225.   When "associating" with the GNT, SeedMaster automatically masks off the
  226.   Old Testament references for your source word, even if the OT is part
  227.   of your currently defined search range.  This makes GNT associations 
  228.   accurate.
  229.  
  230.   Correlation is computed by taking the percentage of Coincidence for a
  231.   given word and dividing by the total Coincidences for all words with 
  232.   a Coincidence of at least 1%.  If more than five words have that signi-
  233.   ficance (rare), they ARE taken into consideration in this computation.

  243. The Search Statistics provide a book by book and chapter by chapter summary
  244. of search "hits".  Initially, Search Statistics displays a book by book list,
  245. also indicating the percentage of the total number of search verses to the
  246. right of the number of hits.  This percentage is calculated using simple
  247. integer math, and is subject to a small amount of rounding error.  If you
  248. press <Enter> on a book, the underlying chapters will be displayed.  If you
  249. press <Enter> on a chapter, the search list will be advanced to the first
  250. verse within that chapter.  If there is no hits within that chapter, the 
  251. search list will be advanced to the nearest verse.
  252.  
  253. Search Statistics can be used to quickly advance to other hits within a
  254. search list.

  277. Enter the word or phrase words you wish to search for. If you are 
  278. searching a Bible text, you can use the "*" as a wildcard at the begin-
  279. ning and/or end of a search word. For instance, you can use "*lov*" to 
  280. find "beloved", "loved", etc. The "*" is not used when searching 
  281. Resource files (Commentary, Scofield, etc.).
  282.  
  283. If enabled and you enforce "Word Order" (General or Literal), make sure 
  284. you enter the words in the desired order. If you enter only one word, 
  285. "Word Order" option is irrelevant.
  286.  
  287. Notes: Punctuation symbols are ignored for searching purposes.  The only 
  288.        exception is an apostrophe imbedded in a word (such as those indi-
  289.        cating possession i.e., "the lion's mouth").  Apostrophes at the 
  290.        end of a word are ignored, since they sometimes indicate possession
  291.        and other times reflect other grammar - such as the end of an im-
  292.        bedded quote (i.e., Genesis 20:5 (NIV)).
  293.  
  294.        If you use the wildcard symbol "*" at the beginning of a search 
  295.        word, the search will take longer, since SeedMaster must search 
  296.        through every word in its word list, looking for the word root.
  297.  
  298.        STRONG'S NUMBERS: If you have the STR Database, you may enter 
  299.        Strong's OT or NT Number(s) to search on ANY Bible version--and
  300.        you can even combine Strong's Number(s) with other words from 
  301.        that translation. (Word Order ignores Strongs' Numbers.)

  386. *MENU HELP*
  387. The SeedMaster menu is grouped by major function area (File, Edit etc.).
  388. The menu items are listed beneath each function area automatically.  Not all
  389. menu items are active at all times.  Active items are displayed in the
  390. high intensity mode of your monitor.  Inactive items are displayed at
  391. low, or normal, intensity.
  392.  
  393. To move to another function area:
  394.      Press the <Left> or <Right> cursor keys.
  395.  
  396. To select a menu item:
  397.      Move the reverse image bar over the desired menu item (with the 
  398.      cursor control keys <Up>, <Down>, etc.) and press <Enter>.
  399.      Or, press the highlighted (or underlined) letter of the menu 
  400.      item description.  It is not necessary to press <Enter>.
  401.  
  402. Once you select your menu item, the menu will disappear and SeedMaster will 
  403. perform the task you selected.  After the task is complete, you may bring up 
  404. the menu again by pressing the <Alt> key.
  405.                 
  406. You may quit the menu (not selecting a menu item) by pressing <Esc>.
